Our Meishan Herd
Mìngyùn
Mìngyùn is bred and expecting babies very soon (Jan 21/22). She is only about 87% Meishan. She has Hampshire far back in her lines but has been bred to our full Meishan boar. Her name means destiny in Chinese. She is the largest pig we have here on the farm and has the sweetest personality.
Qiānxùn
Qiānxùn de means humble in Chinese. She is the one to take a step back and let her sister, Dúlì, take the lead. I'm in love with her socks and her little pink nose. She delivered a beautiful litter of 11 babies the day after Christmas for us and has been the kindest most sweetest mom to them!
Nàilì
Nàilì means stamina in Chinese, and he comes to us from Imperial Meishans. He must live up to that name as he will be our breeding boar. He is everything we've wanted, and we are so excited about his first three litters coming at any moment. He is really starting to get his tusks in and reminds us of Pumba from the Lion King. He is also fully registered.
Dúlì
Dúlì means independence in Chinese, and this girl takes on the role completely. She is the dominant of the girls that we have here. She is almost entirely black. She delivered a beautiful litter for us on December 12, 2024.
Bái wàzǐ
This little girl comes to us from Imperial Meishan, and we couldn’t be happier with how she is growing! Her name means white socks in Chinese, and she is our first registered female Meishan. She will be bred later in 2025.
Wěndìng
Wěndìng means stability in Chinese and is just a strong roommate for Naili; he is just a buddy to him, having been fixed and will not breed. Hopefully, he brings stability, and so far, he seems like he's going to fit that title just well!
Pi Farms Meishan Litter #1
We are excited to announce that our first litter arrived late on December 12, 2024, and in the freezing temperatures, we aren’t ready for it here in Georgia!! Our girl Dúlì gave us seven little ones, six of whom made it through the night. We have four boys and two girls in this litter, and all six of these guys are fat and happy!
Huǒqiú
Huǒqiú, which is Fireball in Chinese, and she is the girl we’re keeping from Dúlì litter. She is a spitting image of her mother, a handful when trying to catch, and is so thick and full of bone. We can not wait to watch her grow up here on the farm with us. She is everything we want to produce in this herd! Miss Fireball also has 18 teats!
Pi Farms Meishan Litter #2
Pi Farms Litter #2 arrived right after Christmas 2024, and momma Qiānxùn gave us 11 happy and healthy little ones. So far, we’re sure there are six girls and five boys; two are a little smaller than the rest but very happy and healthy even for their size. They have the friendliest personalities and are not scared to come and say hi when we visit their pen.
Pi Farms Meishan Litter #3
Pi Farms Litter #3 arrived in the middle of a snowstorm at 1 am on January 22, 2025, right here in Coastal Georgia!! Mìngyùn, Or Big Momma as I call her, gave us 15 babies, with 14 of them making it through the night. This litter is feisty, making more noise than any of the other litter we have, and at hours old, I’ve watched them fight over who was getting a teat, and at a day old, I’ve watched them try to snack on Mom’s food. We will have a better idea of numbers, but I think we are split down the middle with seven girls and seven boys.
